Project Idea: Snowman Ornament

If you are looking for a fun and unique way to decorate your Christmas tree this year, why not try making a snowman ornament with your cutting machine? This project is perfect for beginners, and it’s a great way to use up some of those extra scraps of vinyl that you may have lying around.

To get started, you will need:

• Snowman SVG file (I used this one)
• Plastic or Glass Ornament (Your craft store should have them, Amazon has these)
• Cutting machine like a Cricut or Silhouette
• Black Adhesive Vinyl
• Orange Adhesive Vinyl
• Little Styrofoam Balls (I got mine from Dollar Tree, Amazon has these)
• Small funnel (or you can make one of a paper cone)
• Transfer tape (I use painters tape)

Instructions for Making a Snowman Ornament

Watch those styrofoam balls! They can get staticky and get all over the place.

Step 1:

Cut, weed, and apply your design to the plastic ornament.

Tip: I like to cut little slits in my transfer tape around the design, then line up my design and place it in the very center, then slowly and carefully rub the vinyl onto the ornament, working with the curve gradually from the inside out.

Step 2:

Remove the top of the ornament, put your funnel in (I just used paper rolled up as a funnel), and carefully pour in the styrofoam balls until the ornament is filled.

Tip: If your styrofoam balls are getting staticky, I heard rubbing a dryer sheet onto the funnel and the ornament will keep them from jumping all over.

Step 3:

Replace the top and hang it up!

And… all done!
